Hosur Tourism

Hosur is a small but a developed town located in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu state. Hosur is about 35 km away from the city of Bangalore. Hosur is known for the automobile and other manufacturing industries. The weather of the town is very pleasant and moderate, that you would definitely enjoy your trip while visiting here in any weather. There are few attractions in the town which you would enjoy there. Tourist Attractions in Hosur

There are some places in the town of Hosur which are famous and lure the tourists to visit here. The number of attractions in the town is very limited but it is enough to enjoy there. Some of the attractions are mentioned below.

Rajaji Memorial

Rajaji Memorial is the memorial of Chakravarthy Rajagopalachari which is located about 3 km from the town of Hosur. He was the first and the last Governor General of India. The architectural beauty of this memorial would definitely attract you. In the memorial you would find a gallery with lots of pictures of Rajaji and his family, a library and statue of Rajaji.

Maraghatha Sarovar

There is a pond or theertham in the premises of temple Chandira Chowdeswarar in Hosur which is known as Maraghatha Sarovar. It is one of the famous shrines and located on the top of Bhadrachalam hill. You can travel by auto-rickshaw or taxis from Hosur to Maraghatha Sarovar. The shrines of Lord Muruga, Lord Ganesha and other saints are located near that Sarovar.

Chandira Chowdeswarar temple is the prominent temple located at Bhadrachalam Hill in Hosur. The temple was built by Thirupuvanamalla Barvatharaja Anthiyazhvar of the Hoysala dynasty in 1260. It is the temple of Lord Shiva or Chowdeswarar and Goddess Parvati or Goddess Maragadambal. In this temple there are various shrines and theerthams (ponds). The mesmerizing architecture of the temple would surely attract you.

Beyond the above mentioned places there are some more attractions in the town such as Hogenakal Falls, Kelevarapalli dam and many more. While visiting these places you would enjoy the nature and natural beauty of the town. There are small markets located near these places where you can enjoy shopping and there are some hotels and restaurants in the town to enjoy food and to stay there.

Getting to Hosur

Hosur is well connected by road and rail transport with nearby cities and rest of the country but there is no airport in the town.

By Road: National Highway NH 207 passes through the town of Hosur. There is a Satellite Bus Station in the town. Various private and government buses pass through the town and connect it with rest of the country. KSRTC and TNSTC buses ply regularly to and fro the town.

By Train: Hosur has well connectivity with rail transport and it is located on Bangalore- Salem Line. Various express and passenger trains pass through Hosur Railway station and connect the town with Bangalore, Chennai, Salem, Coimbatore, Ernakulam, Kannur, Madurai, Nagercoil, Tiruchirappalli, Mysore, Puducherry, Mumbai, Delhi and other cities of South India.
  
By Air: There is no airport in Hosur but the nearest international airport is located in Bangalore which is only 35 km away from the town of Hosur. If you are traveling by flights to Bangalore, then, you can take prepaid taxi from the airport to reach Hosur.
